It’s PMLN v PMLN!

Earlier in 2015, when Nawaz Sharif was the Prime Minister and Ishaq Dar was his Finance Minister, government had issued a 10-year $500-million Eurobond at the high rate of 8.25%. This was the time, when the Indian firm Reliance had raised (a 10-year) $1 billion from bond sale to a coupon rate of 4.125% only. The decision to raise $500 million loan at 8.25 percent rate was severely criticised by Parliamentarians at that time. A meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Finance, which was chaired by Senator Saleem Mandviwala had termed issuance of $500 million Eurobond by the Nawaz Sharif government at 8.25 per cent interest rate a “flawed decision” and stated that Pakistan may now be rated in global bond market with countries like Kenya and Zambia.
